AKSU Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Here’s a list to the admission requirements for postgraduate programs at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) across various departments.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements for Public Administration

UTME Entry (4-Year Degree Program)

• Pass the UTME organized by JAMB.
• Have five credit passes in subjects including English, Mathematics, and Government from WAEC, NECO, or GCE O/L.
• Required UTME subjects include English, Government or History, Economics, and one other subject.

Direct Entry (3-Year Degree Program)

• Five credit passes in WAEC, NECO, or GCE, with two at the Advanced Level.
• Candidates with OND (Upper Credit), HND, or NCE (Merit) plus UTME qualifications can apply.
• Final certificates from recognized professional bodies and five credit passes as stated above are also accepted.

Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA)

• HND (Lower Credit) holders or those with a Third Class Degree in Public Administration.
• Second-Class Lower degree holders from other disciplines may also apply.

Master in Public Administration (MPA)

• A good First Degree from a recognized university.
• At least 3 years of work experience in the public or private sector.
• Candidates from other disciplines must:
  • Take and pass two undergraduate courses in Public Administration.
  • Complete a PGD program if required.
• Third-Class degree holders need at least 5 years of work experience.

Master of Science in Public Administration (M.Sc.)

• Must hold a Second-Class Upper Degree in Public Administration or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Meet the general requirements for postgraduate studies at AKSU.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Administration

• Applicants need a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from AKSU or any accredited university.
• The program is full-time and requires candidates to meet AKSU’s general postgraduate regulations.
